Want to become a Habitat homeowner? MCHFH offers homeowner orientation meetings on the first Monday evening of each month, provided there is no holiday, at our office located at 3153 E. Highway 76, Mullins (beside Dry Dock Seafood Restaurant). The meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Prospective homeowners will have the opportunity to complete a homeowner application following the meeting. The Family Selection Committee reviews all applications from prospective families. Qualified applicants are screened and selected by the committee with board approval. The families selected must be able to support a house payment of $360.00 - $380/month, which means they must have sufficient income to make the monthly payments. This payment amount includes the monthly mortgage payment plus escrow (taxes & insurance on the home). This is an opportunity for working families who are unable to otherwise own a home to realize the American dream of owning their very own home. The benefits to the family and the community are extensive. Homeowners become taxpayers and consumers of the things one needs to maintain a home. Children have a safe environment in which to study, sleep and socialize. This is a win-win situation for all involved.
